Meta enters the paid AI coding market with Muse Spark 1.1, undercutting Anthropic and OpenAI on price

Category: AI Coding

What it is

Meta launched Muse Spark 1.1, its first paid developer API and “strongest model for
agentic and coding work yet,” three months after debuting Muse Spark under AI
chief Alexandr Wang. The model handles bug diagnosis, feature implementation,
and large-scale code migrations with a one-million-token context window. Pricing
is $1.25 per million input tokens and $4.25 per million output tokens – below
Anthropic’s flagship Claude, slightly above entry-level rivals. Meta says it rivals
GPT-5.5 and Opus 4.8 on agentic benchmarks at roughly 10x lower cost.

Why it Matters for Enterprises

Meta's aggressive pricing adds a credible third option to the AI coding market.
Enterprises benchmarking coding assistants should factor Muse Spark into
vendor evaluations where token volume drives cost
