Category: Manufacturing AI

What it is
HD Hyundai Electric’s Cheongju Power Distribution Campus, launched in February
2026, uses an AI system called Single Plan to connect demand forecasts, sales
projections, production schedules, and supplier orders in real time. Autonomous
mobile robots retrieve and route materials to production lines 2–3 days before they’re
needed. The 21-acre facility manages 50,000 product configurations, operates 8.5
million units annually, and has raised overall equipment effectiveness from 58% to
~75%, targeting 90% by 2030.
Why it Matters for Enterprises
This is AI-driven supply chain planning made real - not a pilot, but a fully operational
smart factory serving global data-center and grid demand. Manufacturers can use this as
a reference architecture: AI-connected planning from sales to supplier, robots executing
at the floor level, and flexible lines reducing changeover costs.
